Disabled at 13 due to the mal-practice of a doctor, regardless of whose fault it was I was responsible for how I dealt with my new condition. I started to work on my career. In the beginning, I worked as a journalist, while researching for articles I met people from all walks of life. This was where I learned how the society treats Persons with Disabilities PWD. They are either excluded or seen as a burden.
It occurred to me that people's outlook on PWD needed to change.  I opened an NGO that primarily worked with accessible communication for PWD. Accepting donations was not fulfilling as it meant I would always need someone else to help me.
I started my M.A. program in Crisis Management, I learned that PWD were not included in the Disaster Risk Reduction DRR process which encouraged me to advocate about Disability Inclusive Disaster Risk Reduction DIDRR, accessibility, and other issues relating to PWD. Now I work in including PWD in the different areas of DRR.
