Accessible communication
Having a sensory disability myself, I understand the requirement for accessible communications, so that I can Independantly access private and corporate communications. It is important for self confidence and personal development, and it greatly enhances your ability to be integrated in the workplace.
Assistive devices and personal assistance
I am a regular user of several different assistive devices. Most of the assistive devices I use are highly technical, and all are on a digital platform. Even though I have access to all of these assistive devices, it does not exclude my reliance on personal assistance as well. Through mobility training, you can learn certain routes, but you will always need sighted assistance when learning a new route.
Community organizations
When being diagnosed with a life changing condition or disability, the support given by community based organisations, especially local disability service organisations and DPOs, is of critical importance to reintegrate you into society. They also assist you with the many challenges caused by your disability, and supply you with real life support to overcome challenges.
